Mindanao varsity golf tourney slated

THE JUNIOR Golf Foundation of the Philippines and International Container Terminal Services, Inc. will stage the Mindanao Interschool Golf Championship on Nov. 24 and 25 at Del Monte Golf Club in Bukidnon.

The event is an off-shoot of the ongoing ICTSI-JGFP Interschool Golf Championship in Metro Manila that has attracted a record field of 280 players.

“Envisioned as a venue to forge camaraderie among young talents and to bolster their school spirit, the event has flourished such that more schools have now acknowledged the significance of golf as a varsity sport worth developing in their institutions,” said JGFP president Luigi Tabuena.

Among the schools expected to join are Abba’s Orchard School, Corpus Christi School, Xavier University Grade School, Lourdes College Basic Education Dept., Corpus Christi School, Oro Christian Grace School and Xavier University High School.

The event is also backed by the Pancake House Group of Companies, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Pancake House, Golf Depot, Philippine Airlines and Inquirer Golf Monthly.
