Global FC edges Kaya FC to advance to UFL Cup semifinals

MANILA, Philippines—Global FC advanced to the semifinals and booted out Kaya FC with a 2-1 win Tuesday night after a grueling match in the United Football League Cup at the University of Makati.

A goal from Misagh Bahardon early into extra time gave Global its final edge, then stood tough on defense in the final 30 minutes as it kept in step with Kaya on its attempts to tie the game.

Demit Omphroy first gave reigning League titlist Global the lead in the 33rd minute but Eddie Mallari put Kaya in the scoreboard just before halftime.

The rest of the knockout quarterfinals are set later this week.
