Cali retains flyweight title vs Tagle

By |

MANILA, Philippines — Ale “The Young Gun” Cali retained his flyweight title after scoring an exciting third-round stoppage over Erwin Tagle late Saturday night in the main event of Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC) 34 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Cali’s stand-up game proved to be too much for Tagle, who was unable to continue after the third round.

Tagle, a cage veteran, tasted Cali’s power early, bloodied in the second round before losing steam in the third round where the hard-hitting champion capitalized.

Mark “Mugen” Striegl made quick work of Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento, submitting the PXC lightweight champion on an armlock in the opening round.

Meanwhile, Eugene Toquero stopped Jerome Wanawan of Team Lakay.

Other fights saw Japanese Michinori Tanaka remained unbeaten after winning over American Russel Doane via a rear-naked choke while Dustin Kimura knocked out Guy Delameau in round three.
