MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University and National University hacked out hardfought victories Saturday in the 75th UAAP men’s volleyball opener at the Arena in San Juan.
FEU nipped Adamson in five thrilling sets, 22-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12, as Arvin Avila led with 19 points — all but one from kills.
The Tamaraws pounced on two straight crucial errors by the Falcons in the deciding to clinch their first victory of the conference.
Meanwhile, National University recovered in the fourth set for a 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18 over Ateneo in the first game.
Jan Paglinawan and Reuben Inaudito carried the bulk of the attack for the Bulldogs with 17 and 15 points respectively.
