Lady Tams give Maroons reality check with straight sets win

MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University gave University of the Philippines a reality check with a quick 25-14, 25-14, 27-25 win Saturday in the UAAP Season 75 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Wenneth Eulalio topscored with 19 points while Rosemarie Vargas added 17 points.

The Lady Maroons, who snapped their 16-game losing skid by nipping University of the East in the season opener, couldn’t sustain their form as they blew a 21-19 advantage in the third set.

Gyzelle Sy and Vargas helped FEU recover with timely hits including a service ace from Vargas which sealed the Lady Tams’ first victory in two outings.
