Ateneo, La Salle trip FCBL foes

Ateneo and La Salle finally barged into the win column by downing their respective rivals in the 2nd Dickies-FCBL Women’s Cup recently at Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.

Drawing stellar performance from Danica Jose, the Lady Eagles downed Lyceum, 59-58, for their first win in three games in the annual tournament presented by Dickies.

Jose, daughter of former PBA player Bobby Jose, exploded for 17 points, eight of them in the pivotal fourth period to help the Katipunan-based squad repel Lyceum’s repeated rallies.

The former PH Youth mainstay also had 16 boards to earn her first Dickies Player of the Game award in the tournament also backed by Smart, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum and Hapee Toothpaste.

The Lady Archers, on the other hand, leaned on the double-double performance of Aracelie Abaca to beat University of Santo Tomas, 67-64.
