GABRIEL Tiamson capitalized on a decisive break in the opening set to overpower top seed Miko Eala, 6-4, 6-2, and snare the boys’ 12-and-under title in the Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Tennis Association age-group tennis championships at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center over the weekend.

That service break in the ninth game was all the second-seeded Tiamson, playing for De La Salle-Zobel, needed to assert himself on Eala and power his way to the crown.

Eala later gained a measure of consolation when he whitewashed Juan Miguel Jugo, 6-0, 6-0, for the 10-under unisex title.
