NATIONAL University started its title-retention bid in baseball with a shaky win even as Adamson stayed unbeaten in softball in separate UAAP action at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium over the weekend.

In volleyball, both NU and Ateneo moved within a win of a first-round sweep in the men and women’s games, respectively, also last weekend at Filoil Flying V Arena.

Peter Torres and Reyson Fuentes hit a combined 29 points as the Bulldogs rallied from a set down against University of Santo Tomas, 19-25, 25-12, 29-27, 25-20, for a sixth straight victory in men’s volleyball.
