Perpetual Help downs St. Benilde; San Sebastan trips Letran in NCAA women’s volleyball

MANILA, Philippines — Perpetual Help blanked College of St. Benilde, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23 Friday to stay on top in the 88th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

Three Lady Altas churned out double-digit performances to help ward off the Lady Blazers, who stayed within striking distance majority of the match.

Sandra Delos Santos led with 11 spikes and a service ace while Honey Tubino delivered 11 hits including the match-clinching attack.

Perpetual Help got a little breather as it improved to 6-1 in a top-heavy standings.

San Sebastian remained in close and solo second behind Perpetual Help after a 25-12, 25-19, 18-25, 25-10 triumph over Letran.

Towering spiker Gretchel Soltones poured 27 points, including two services aces for the Lady Stags, who upped their record to 5-1.

Melissa Cu had 11 points for the Lady Knights, who have yet to notch a victory in this season after five tries.
