MANILA, Philippines — Bacolod-based Ceres FC upset United Football League powerhouse Global FC, 1-0, Saturday to continue its stunning run in the PFF-Smart Club Championship to the semifinals.
British striker Peter Long scored the lone goal of the match in the 12th minute to give Ceres, the only remaining non-UFL squad in the competition, the edge early on at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Ceres also struck 1-0 victory over reigning UFL Cup champion Stallion FC, last week, at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod.
Ceres faces the victor of the Kaya-Loyola Meralco clash, which is being played as of posting time, in the semifinals next weekend.
