MANILA, Philippines – National University leaned on a collective effort to beat Ateneo, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18, Sunday in the UAAP Season 75 men’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

Peter Torres, Reyson Fuentes and Jan Paglinawan each registered 10 points to help the Bulldogs chalk up their 10th win in 11 outings, tying Far Eastern University in first place.

NU broke loose from a 15-all count with Fuentes connecting on two service aces as Ateneo had a hard time communicating on the receiving end.

Another ace this time by Vincent Mangulabnan put the Bulldogs at match point, 24-18, before Edwin Tolentino sealing the win with a kill from the left side.

Skipper Rueben Inaudito added nine points on seven hits for NU, which sent Ateneo to a 3-8 mark.

The Bulldogs came off a tough win over De La Salle last Sunday where they rallied from two sets down.

Ysrael Marasigan and Rex Intal led the Eagles with eight points apiece.
