MANILA, Philippines – Petron Blaze banked on a big third quarter to blast Barangay Ginebra San Miguel 105-90 Sunday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Renaldo Balkman scored half of his game-high 34 points in the pivotal third quarter, where the Boosters outscored the struggling Kings 35-19.

“The team talked about consistency to come out with a lot of energy and intensity in the game and it showed today,” said Petron head coach Olsen Racela.

“It’s still a long way. It’s a process, we’re getting there. We’re gaining confidence with the way we’re playing but it’s still a process,” added Racela on whether his team’s problems are behind.

Petron Blaze improved to 2-1 while also dealing Ginebra, which will bring in a new import Vernon Macklin to replace Herbert Hill, its third loss in as many games.

June Mar Fajardo had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Boosters while Mark Caguioa paced Ginebra with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field.

May imports man, masaya na ako na at least mag-average ng double-double ang 2 Big J’s na sina Japeth at June Mar; maka-minimum man lang ng 10 pts. and 10 rebounds per game nitong conference na ito, ayos na sa akin. Kaya naman, eh. :-)
