Global seeks victory No. 3 vs Archers

By

GLOBAL seeks to extend its unbeaten start to three matches when it battles winless Green Archers Globe today in the United Football League at Emperador Stadium in Taguig.

Still far from its best form, Global managed to grind out wins over Pasargad and Nomads and remains favored in the 5:15 p.m. match against the Archers, who remain dangerous foes with their potent attack.

Global is actually seeking the solo lead ahead of Stallion and Loyola which currently own a super goal difference.

Izzo El-habbib remains the player to watch for Global after finally opening his scoring account this season in the 2-1 win over Nomads last week.

Archers’ attack is equally explosive with new acquisition Chieffy Caligdong leading the line along with the fleet-footed Tating Pasilan.

Kaya tries to pick up a second win against Nomads in the 7:30 p.m. tussle.

A stoppage time strike from substitute Janrick Soriano lifted Kaya past the  Green Archers,  2-1, last week but it was OJ Porteria’s brilliance that stood out in the match as the teenager constantly tormented the enemy’s defense.

Nomads, which lost to Global last Thursday, is also looking for its second victory after its 1-0 conquest of Air Force in the season opener.

Meanwhile, the UFL disciplinary committee has yet to decide on the sanctions that will be meted on those involved in the melee that marred the Archers-Kaya match last Tuesday.

In the match that saw seven players get yellow cards, Archers sub Elle Cagayanan was sent off for a flying kick at Kaya defender Dario Dakic, while Archers manager Monchu Garcia, coach Rodolfo Alicante and Kaya mentor Maor Rozen were also dismissed for entering the pitch at the height of the melee.
