Beermen seek tie for lead vs Slingers

SAN MIGUEL Beer hopes for another solid defensive effort when the Beermen shoot for a share of the Asean Basketball League (ABL) lead today against Singapore at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

A sixth straight victory in the 3 p.m. game will push the Beermen back on top with the idle Indonesia Warriors at 9-3.

Coach Leo Austria thinks that another solid defensive effort should keep the Beermen’s winning streak going in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) today.

The Beermen have limited four of their last five opponents to less than 60 points.

“The players started to embrace the defensive system and we are reaping dividends,” said Austria.

Austria praised the locals led by Chris Banchero, Leo Avenido and Asi Taulava for their consistent plays, but also pointed to the intimidating defensive presence that new import Justin Williams had brought to the team.   Jasmine W. Payo
