Hoping to gauge their readiness for the bigger, more important battles ahead, NCAA champion San Beda and National University usher in the action in the seventh season of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup on April 13 at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Lions-Bulldogs clash at 2 p.m. serves as the appetizer of the explosive triple-header highlighting the opening day of the pre-season tournament, where all of the finest collegiate teams in the country are seeing action.

UAAP squads La Salle and University of Santo Tomas test each other’s mettle at 4 p.m., while five-time UAAP champion Ateneo faces guest team Southwestern University at 6 p.m.

Coach Boyet Fernandez makes his debut for San Beda, which will also see the return of twins Anthony and David Semerad.

The Bulldogs will unveil what could be an important player to their drive for a UAAP title in Cameroonian center Alfred Arogo.

The rookie to watch for La Salle will be Kib Montalbo, the guard from Bacolod, who is expected to make an impact for the Archers.
