MANILA, Philippines – Adamson University drew solid plays from veteran Roider Cabrera and Jericho Cruz to beat a rookie-laden San Beda squad 72-63 in the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup at the San Beda College gym in Mendiola.
Cabrera scored 20 points while Cruz, a versatile swingman who showed his worth in the UAAP Season 75, added 16 points.
Cabrera did most of his damage in the fourth quarter where he posted eight points in the final 5:45 as the Falcons stretched what was once a 47-45 lead to a 55-45 advantage.
Pierre Tankoua, a six-foot-five Cameroonian rookie, paced the Red Lions with 14 points.
Meanwhile, Emilio Aguinaldo College turned back St. Clare 67-60.
Francis Munsayac and John Tayongtong scored 17 and 14 points respectively for the Generals, who started off their campaign on a winning note.
