Anton feted for solid race season

CARLOS Anton got a fitting reward for one of his finest years in hillclimb racing, capturing his sixth straight driver of the year award in the Annual Automobile Association Awards Night at the Manila International Auto Show recently.

Driving the Mark Young-Hornitex prepared CRX, Anton, a member of Team Philippines Nascar, ruled 15 of 16 races in hill climb and circuit showdown last year, underscoring his worth as the finest in his category.

Anton has actually dominated the local circuit the past six years, winning 27 of 28 races, but ventured to circuit racing last year, adding the 2012 Circuit Showdown and Champion of Champions titles last December.

“I can’t ask for anything more from the Young-Castrol team,” he said. “Their support has been super.”

Anton is setting his sights on the Nascar Race Ex World Circuit at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, where the country will compete against 12 other countries. Cedelf P. Tupas
