Ateneo eyes Shakey’s V-L q’final berth

ALYSSA Valdez tries to sustain her high-scoring act when Ateneo shoots for the first quarterfinal berth against Letran in the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 today.

The Lady Eagles, the solo leader in Group A, vie for a third straight victory with Valdez again expected to lead the attacks along with Rachel Ann Daquis and Fille Cainglet in the 2 p.m. battle at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

In Group B action, Arellano targets a second win versus a Perpetual Help squad seeking a strong start to its campaign at 4 p.m.

“Perpetual Help is a champion team, so we have to be prepared,” Arellano coach Obet Javier said of the Lady Altas, the reigning NCAA champions.

Valdez is the league’s scoring leader after amassing 47 points in Ateneo’s wins over University of Santo Tomas and San Sebastian.
