Fil-German Lehnert shines in Turkey

KATHARINA Lehnert, donning the Philippine colors for the first time, bagged the women’s doubles title and reached the singles final of the Antalya $10,000 Tennis Organisation Cup recently in Turkey.

The 19-year-old Lehnert, who was born and raised in Deu, Germany, obtained her Philippine passport several weeks ago and celebrated it with an impressive performance in the ITF women’s circuit.

Lehnert dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Swiss Victoria Golubic in the singles final. Nevertheless, she is expected to improve on her world ranking of No. 584.

She later teamed up with Golubic to win the doubles crown over Petra Krejsova and Martina Borecka of Czech Republic, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. Marc Anthony Reyes
