Ateneo too much for La Salle-Dasmariñas

By |

MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo hardly broke a sweat in turning back La Salle-Dasmariñas, 25-12, 25-12, 25-17, Sunday in the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 First Conference at the jampacked FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Guest player Rachel Ann Daquis led the way with 13 points for the Lady Eagles, who swept through the elimination round to lead Group A with a 4-0 mark.

Fille Cainglet added 10 points while Alyssa Valdez had eight.

The Lady Eagles dominated from the get-go as the Lady Patriots, who didn’t have any player in double-digit scoring, just didn’t have enough firepower to match up.

Iari Yongco paced La Salle, which committed 24 errors as compared to just 14 by Ateneo, with seven points.

Ateneo trailed early in the third set, 4-7, before Daquis took over.

Back-to-back kills from the former Far Eastern U star put the Lady Eagles ahead for good.

Ella de Jesus put Ateneo, which is already in the quarterfinals, at match point on a kill.
