Lee heads tough cast in RP Open

SOME OF THE BIGGEST NAMES IN INTERnational badminton will showcase their wares when the Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open Grand Prix Badminton Championships rolls off from July 1 to 5 at the PhilSports Multi-purpose Arena in Pasig.

?We expect some 200 players to come and compete,? said Philippine Badminton Association president Amelita Ramos during the PSA Forum yesterday at Shakey?s UN Avenue.

?The top players are coming here in the Philippines. Our national team players will also be playing.?

World No. 2 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia will return to defend his title in the men?s singles crown along with compatriots and champion pair Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in men?s doubles.

World champs Lilyana Natsir and Nova Widianto of Indonesia will also vie in the mixed doubles.

The veteran pair of Kennevic and Kennie Asuncion will again lead the RP squad.
