THE PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee has ordered badminton and cycling to hold their elections on May 9 so the two national sports associations can focus on hosting international competitions this year.
The cycling polls will be held at the Amoranto Stadium in the morning, while the badminton elections will be in the afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, according to POC spokesman Joey Romasanta yesterday.
Former national cyclist Rolando Hiso is expected to get cycling?s top post if Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham ?Bambol? Tolentino makes good on an earlier announcement not to attend the proceedings.
Incumbent president former First Lady Amelita Ramos and former national head coach Errol Chan are expected to vie for the badminton leadership.
