MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Sports Commission chair Harry Angping blasted the Philippine Olympic Committee ?for using the PSC as a reason behind the troubles besetting their ranks and some of their national sports associations.?
Angping took exception at the comments made by POC president Jose ?Peping? Cojuangco, who said that the PSC was meddling with the affairs of several NSAs Tuesday.
?All these POC statements regarding the supposed meddling on the PSC?s part is certainly false,? Angping said in a statement Wednesday.
POC deputy secretary-general Mark Joseph had called as ?harassment? Angping?s order for the temporary closure of the office of the Wushu Federation of the Philippines as well as the National Archery Association of the Philippines inside the PSC-managed Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
Angping said he found it necessary to close the offices because of the leadership problems within the two NSAs.
He also clarified that it was only the office and not the training centers for the athletes that were closed.
?To support our athletes?the true heroes of Philippine sports?is our policy," stressed Angping, adding that the POC should resolve the ?misunderstandings among themselves and not drag other parties into their predicament.?
?The POC should clean the mess within their own backyard,? he added.
