MANILA, Philippines - John Wilson anchored Jose Rizal University's fourth quarter breakaway to trounce NCAA rival Letran, 71-53, Wednesday in the FilOil-Flying V Pre-Season MVP Cup at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Wilson sank nine of his game-high 20 points to anchor JRU?s 17-3 blitz that allowed the Bombers to erect an insurmountable 69-52 spread, 5:27 to play.

?We picked up our game in the fourth and we applied the press on them?that worked for us,? said JRU coach Ariel Vanguardia.

Kevin Alas scored 13 points for Letran, which is still winless in five games.

In the first game, Adamson captured its third straight victory after an 81-57 drubbing of Perpetual.

The Falcons were in control right from the start, with Jeric Canada scoring all his 10 points in the first half. They led all throughout the contest and went up, 73-43, in the 5:42 mark of the final period en route to their third win in four outings.
