PSC-POC row may affect SEAG stint

MANILA, Philippines - The ongoing feud between the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission could end up dictating the size of the country?s delegation to the Laos Southeast Asian Games, officials said Thursday.

If the PSC and the POC settle their differences, the country can field more than 300 athletes to Vientiene, Laos.

If the rift continues, the POC might have to shoulder a bulk of the SEA Games-related expenses and send less than 150 competitors, according to Laos SEA Games chief of mission Mario Tanchangco.

?I heard Health Sec. (Francisco) Duque is brokering the peace talks but it has not pushed through,? said Tanchangco.

Still, Tanchangco said the athletes in the 25 sports disciplines scheduled in the SEA Games are currently training based on the recent talks he had with the national sports associations.
