Cebuano racing legend David G. Lim (DGL) proved once more that he is a driving force in the country?s motorsports scene.
This after the multi-titled racer led the DGL Motorsports team to a monstrous finish in the 3rd leg of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series at the Parkmall grounds in Mandaue City.
Aside from topping winning eight titles, DGL also went on to clock the best overall time of the race, logging 39.97 seconds in his win in the Open Class C category.
DGL?s performance capped off a sterling performance for team DGL Motorsports, which topped nine of the 19 categories of the event.
DGL won titles in the Novice Modified A, Modified B and C, Experienced Modified B, Open Class A, B and C and All-wheel Drive divisions.
Mato Tan added another crown for the team by winning the Experienced Modified C category. DGL?s son, David Lim Jr., managed a second place finish in the Experienced Modified C, Open Class B and C, and in the Novice Modified A and B categories.
Tan, a long-time sidekick of DGL, had the second best overall time with 39.35 seconds followed by Lim Jr. with 40.02 seconds.
Kart Zone's Jess Garcia logged 40.33 seconds for the fourth best overall time and went on to win the Sports Car Class and the Rear Wheel Drive category. He also finished second in the Experienced Modified B and third in the Open Class C.
Jong King of No Care Racing (NCR), who had the best time in the second leg of the series, failed to live up to his lofty billing as he only managed two second place finishes and one third place trophy.
He finished second in the Open Class A and All Wheel Drive divisions and third in the Novice Modified C.
While it was expected to be a stiff competition between DGL and King, their matchup turned out to be a lopsided affair.
King was beaten by DGL in three categories?the All Wheel Drive, Open Class A and the Novice Modified C.
DGL?s win further bolstered his chances of bagging the Driver of the Year award, which will be given at the end of the five-leg series.
?I think my chances (of bagging the award) are very bright,? said DGL.
Other winners in the two-day event were Dennis Corro of NCR (Novice Stock A), Eric Canama of Textar Racing (Experienced Stock C), Ervin Go of Team ACR (Novice Stock C and All-BMW) and Jeff Francis Lim (Papa Joe's).
