ACCURATE AND PROFICIENT, FRANCES Nicole Medina pulled off a stunning victory in the ongoing Southeast Asian Shooting Association (Seasa) championships in Bangkok.
Showing the result of her rigorous training under the Philippine National Shooting Association’s youth development program, Medina ruled the 50-meter women’s rifle prone event.
Medina registered 583 points to beat Malaysia’s Nur Farrah Taufekh (578) and Nur Ayuni Abdul Halim (576) to the gold.
The Philippines also took four silver medals with Shanin Lyn Gonzales winning two. Gonzales also joined forces with Mica Padilla and Alyanna Chuatoco for two more silvers.
Gonzales tallied 740.8 to finish second behind Malaysia’s Wahida Ismail (752.5) in the 25-meter Seasa junior pistol. Gonzales’ other silver came in the 25m junior pistol in the Thailand Open where she scored 550 and landed second to Thai Chanyanial Kobkultanachai.
