MANILA, Philippines?De La Salle University guard Hyram Bagatsing and Cebuano standout Mannie Gabas lead over 100 aspirants who will show their wares in the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) rookie camp set at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Jose Rizal University gym in Mandaluyong City.
PBL executive director Butch Maniego said the six-hour session will allow the coaches to evaluate the participants? skills before the draft tentatively set on Nov. 12.
In a bid to develop younger talents, the league has opened the draft only to players aged 25 years old and below by Nov. 7, 2009.
San Beda College?s Billy Afable, Emilio Aguinaldo College?s Nikko Hubalde, Adamson University?s Alan Dominic Santos and Fil-Am cagers Anthony Lao and Joshua Cubillo are seeing action in the season kick-off next month.
Maniego said camp participants must bring both dark and light jerseys. Walk-in players may join the camp, but early applicants will get priority.
