4 p.m.?FEU vs Ateneo
MANILA, Philippines--An inspired Ateneo squad and an inconsistent Far Eastern University clash Sunday for the last semifinal berth in the Shakey?s V-League Season 6 second conference at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The winner of the 4 p.m. knockout match will advance opposite the top-ranked University of Santo Tomas Tigresses in a best-of-three showdown for a finals berth.
The Lady Eagles are coming off a pulsating 25-11, 25-18, 17-25, 19-25, 15-11 victory over the Tigresses Friday night that sent them to the showdown with the Lady Tamaraws.
The Lady Tamaraws have struggled in the quarterfinals, managing only one victory in five matches after zooming to a 6-1 record in the elimination round.
Despite FEU?s sputtering form, Ateneo coach Clint Malazo remains wary of the Lady Tamaraws.
?We cannot really underestimate them,? said Malazo, whose squad won three of its five games in the quarterfinals. ?We know they haven?t been playing well. But we also saw them at their best this conference that?s why we cannot take them for granted because they might come out with their best against us.?
Ateneo and FEU have split their two matches in the conference with the Lady Eagles avenging their elimination-round defeat in the quarterfinals.
Defending champion San Sebastian and Adamson will collide in the other best-of-three semifinal series starting Tuesday.
