MANILA, Philippines -- Philippine Sports Commission chair William “Butch” Ramirez Thursday clarified that the agency has only given P1.2 million -- not P10 million as reported -- to players and coaches of the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines from January to November last year.

The PSC chief issued the statement based on the agency’s accounting records.

“This is in the form of direct assistance given to our billiards athletes and coaches, and none of these amounts went to the coffers of the BSCP,” said Ramirez.

He made the clarification after certain players’ managers accused BSCP officials of pocketing P10 million.

Based on the figures issued by the PSC, P264,000 was spent for meal allowances, P906,000 for monthly stipend and P50,000 for supplies.
