Australia's Galvez sets new 100m butterfly record

MANCHESTER, England -- Australia's Felicity Galvez posted a new world record time when she struck gold in the 100m butterfly on the final day of the World Short-Course Swimming Championships here on Sunday.

Galvez won in a time of 55.89 seconds, a fraction inside the previous world record time of 55.95 set by fellow Australian Lisbeth Lenton in August 2006.

Rachel Komisarz of the United States took silver in 56.32 while bronze went to Great Britain's Jemma Lowe, who finished in a time of 56.84.
