JAKARTA -- Singapore's Lam Chih Bing fired a second successive seven-under-par 65 to maintain his lead in the Mercedes-Benz Masters Indonesia on Thursday.
Lam confidently collected three birdies on the front nine and four on the back for a four-stroke lead over Malaysia's Danny Chia, who shot a 66 at the Emeralda Golf and Country Club near Jakarta.
"The course really sets up well for me as there is not much rough and I can really attack the holes with my driver," said Lam, who started using a new driver this week.
"I am comfortable being in the lead. I'd rather be in this position than anywhere else," he added.
Chia will be paired with Lam in the third round and has one thing on his mind.
"I just better make sure Lam doesn't get too far ahead. The way he is playing he'll be hard to catch," said Chia.
Malaysian Rashid Ismail is in third spot, seven behind Lam after carding a 68.
Filipino Angelo Que, winner of the Philippine Open last month, carded the same score and is a stroke further back.
The leading Indonesians are Maan Nasim, Ilyasak and Sanusi who are all 12 behind the leader.
