MANILA, Philippines -- Cut notwithstanding, WBC lightweight champion David Diaz seemed to gain confidence about taking Manny Pacquiao's punching power in the third round.

Pacquiao continued to pressure Diaz, who continued to leave himself open. But Diaz uncorked several combinations as he seemed to settle down in the match.

Both fighters unleashed flurries as the round comes to an end, but Pacquiao seemed to be still in control, unleashing combinations that would have floored a less durable opponent.

Pacquiao's right jab seemed to effectively hold off Diaz's barrage.
