MANILA, Philippines -- University of the East stormed ahead early for a 73-61 triumph over Far Eastern University in the UAAP men's basketball competition.

The Warriors, who wrapped up their campaign with a 9-5 record, foiled the Tamaraws' goal to strengthen their bid for the twice-to-beat semifinal advantage.
