Viloria floors Solis at 11th round

CUBAO, Quezon City—(UPDATE)After struggling in the first round, Filipino-Hawaiian boxer Brian Viloria emerged as champ, as he knocked out Ulises Solis in the 11th round in the IBF light flyweight championship here at the Araneta Coliseum.

Viloria who is also known as the “Hawaiian Punch” gave Solis a cut at the 5th round.

A former WBC junior flyweight king, Viloria again struggled on the 6th round as Solis briefly regained control of the fight. The next few rounds until the 11th, both fighters were engaged in an exchanged of powerful punches.

At 2 minutes and 56 seconds, Viloria finally knocked out Solis at the 11th round.

In an interview with reporters, Viloria admitted that Solis was a tough nut to crack.
The Mexican fighter has already defeated three Filipino boxers, Rodel Mayol (8th round KO), Bert Batawang (9th round TKO) and Nonito’s older brother, Glenn (unanimous decision).
