MANILA, Philippines - Burger King and Rain or Shine aim to boost their bids for automatic semifinal berths when they face separate rivals Wednesday in the Motolite PBA Fiesta Conference at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

The Elasto Painters tackle slumping Barako Bull in the first game at 5 p.m., before the Whoppers battle the Talk ?N Text Tropang Texters in the main game at 7:30 p.m.

Despite losing two of it last three games, San Miguel still has the inside track in the race for the outright semifinal berths with Burger King, Rain or Shine, Ginebra and Purefoods locked in a four-team tie for second at 7-5.

?Our target is nine wins,? said Burger King coach Yeng Guiao, after the Whoppers notched their seventh win with a 107-105 nipping of league-leading San Miguel Sunday night.

The Whoppers, however, face a tougher task than the Painters not only on paper. Not only does Talk ?N Text have a more talented roster than Red Bull, the Texters also have more at stake in their match than the Energy Boosters.

The Texters are in the thick of the fight for an outright semifinal slot after snapping a three-game losing streak with a 103-100 triumph over Coca Cola last Saturday in Calape, Bohol. A loss will take Talk ?N Text out of the outright semifinal equation.

Coach Chot Reyes? is once again hoping for a huge game from import Gary Forbes, who posted 34 points against the Tigers in only his second game since replacing erstwhile leading scorer Tiras Wade.
