LOS ANGELES - Cycling star Lance Armstrong, a testicular cancer survivor and Tour de France champ on the comeback trail, is the father of a newborn son, People magazine reported Friday.

"Armstrong and girlfriend Anna Hansen welcomed a 7 lb., 5 oz, 20-inch-long baby boy named Max, the pro cyclist announced," according to the magazine's online edition.

In a posting on his Twitter page Armstrong posted a picture with the caption "Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!"

Armstrong announced last December that he and Hansen were expecting their first child together, according to People.

The cycling champ has three children with ex-wife Kristin.
