MANILA, Philippines ? Reigning titlist jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing put the overall crown in the bag following his big win in the penultimate leg of the 2009 San Mig Coffee National Drag Racing Championship-National Trophy Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit recently.
Tiu, who assured himself of an unprecedented sixth straight Drag Racing title, raised his total to 60 points, moving beyond reach of Ed Christian Go of Blanche Racing and Pepi Santos of H3 Motorsports for the Quick 8 plum in the forthcoming championship leg at the Clark International Speedway.
Sharing fourth place are David Lim, Ed Christopher Go, John Ryzia and Walter Pazon, who all hold 10 points.
With his title quest done, Tiu now looks forward to breaking his current all-time fastest quarter-mile record of 9.223 seconds.
Like Tiu, Ed Christian Go and Jeannette Go also virtually copped the titles in their respective divisions.
Ed Christian sealed the Pro Class crown with 40 points despite his runner-up finish in the last race of the event being sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines. The feat left San Mariano Mayor Edgar Go of Blanche Racing and Why Why Dagondon of W. Autosport-Vannitec battling for runner-up honors with 20 points apiece.
Also in contention for overall runner-up are last leg?s winner Anthony Go of Blanche Racing and John Kalawm who tote 15 points each.
Jeannette, on the other hand, is way ahead in the Hot Street class with 50 points. Cholo Dayrit and Boy Francisco, have 25 and 20 points, respectively.
