Philippine autocross 3rd leg on

The adrenalin rush was very tangible and the hushed excitement palpable during yesterday?s final test run for the third leg of the 2009 Philippine Autocross Championship series which roars off today at the Parkmall grounds of the Mandaue City Reclamation Area.

Some 15 teams will burn rubber in their bid for the 19 category honors as well the coveted Driver of the Year award.

The series features five legs with the last two legs also to be held at Parkmall, informed organizer Neil Labrador and Jong Uy.

Leading in the list contenders for Driver of the Year are DGL Motorsport's very own David Lim who is currently leading the standings with 16 points after competing in the first two legs; Jong King of the No Care Racing (NCR) with 11 points followed by Mato Tan and Justin Neri with eight points each and Randy Paray of Team ACR with six points.

Jong King also bagged two titles, in the All Wheel Drive category and the Open C category while Lim dominated five of the seven categories he competed in namely, Novice Modified B and C, Experienced Modified B and C and Open B.

Expected to give the leaders a run for their money is Jess Garcia of Kartzone who finished second in three different categories; Experienced Modified A , B and C.

Still, Lim and King's expected match-up in four of 19 categories today is considered the major highlight of the race. Lim and King will do battle in the Novice Modified C, Experienced Modified C, Open C and the All Wheel Drive.

Team ACR, Toyota Auto Club Cebu, Dub City and Kartzone are among the 15 expected teams that will see action today.
