MANILA, Philippines ? Letran exacted revenge on defending champion San Sebastian, scoring an 87-79 victory to sweep its elimination round assignments in the NCAA juniors? basketball tournament at FilOil Arena in San Juan.

Jarelan Tampus and Archie Inigo combined for 40 points for the Squires, who lost in last year?s finals against the Staglets.

Despite the win, head coach Elmer Latonio is not about to dismiss five-time champion San Sebastian in the championship this season.

"There?s a strong chance we will be facing them again in the finals. But it?s still too early to tell,? Latonio said in Filipino.

Despite the win, Latonio said he is not fully satisfied with their overall performance versus San Sebastian.

The Staglets had the advantage in defensive rebounds, 27-19, although the Squires had more offensive rebounds, 24-14, leading to second chance points.

"Our ball movement is still slow which is why we had a lot of turnovers. We also need to improve our defense,? said Latonio.

Meanwhile, guest school Arellano U routed Mapua in the earlier game, 102-86. The Baby Chiefs were led by Jonty Cruz and Prince Caperal who fired 28 and 27 points, respectively.

The Baby Chiefs improved to 3-6 slate while the Red Robins dropped further to 1-8.
