MANILA, Philippines-- Adamson defeated De La Salle University, 65-56, Wednesday to clinch solo second place in UAAP women?s basketball at the Far Eastern U gym in Manila.
The Lady Falcons depended on their powerhouse starters Anna Buendia, Katherine Sandel, Katherine Mangahas, Fria Bernardo and reigning MVP Analyn Almasan, who poured in 19 points along with nine rebounds.
The Lady Archers were led by Angeli Gloriani?s 18 points but struggled against the taller Lady Falcons.
Buendia sank crucial free throws with less than a minute to go as the Lady Falcons moved up 12-3 behind tournament leader FEU.
Adamson coach Emilia Vega said the Lady Falcons stuck to their gameplan and slowed down the Lady Archers with their defense.
"We tried if it'll work out on the first quarter and when it clicked, I told them to just continue doing it," Vega said.
