MANILA, Philippines? The Wynne Arboleda controversy ?the latest and most violent case of a player attacking a fan?has reached Congress, with the House committee on Games and Amusements chaired by Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing scheduling a hearing Wednesday to look into the incident that took place during the Oct. 16 game between Burger King versus Smart Gilas.
?We are here to provide some guidelines so we could avert a similar incident in the future,? Bagatsing, whose committee handles affairs on professional sports, told the Inquirer over the phone last night. ?In aid of legislation, we have to conduct this hearing.?
Bagatsing said the two previous cases, the ones involving Marlou Aquino of Sta. Lucia Realty and San Miguel?s Danny Ildefonso, will also be revisited since they ?were very recent and actions should have been taken there.?
Invited to the hearing were Arboleda, Alain Katigbac, the fan attacked by the Burger King enforcer, Burger King manager and PBA chair Lito Alvarez, PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios, and Games and Amusements Board chair Eric Buhain.
Ildefonso and Aquino were also sent summons for the hearing set at 1 p.m.
