MANILA, Philippines – Another Filipino won his bout against
his opponent from New York by stopping him just 17 seconds from the opening bell of the second round in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to PhilBoxing.com
Eden Sonsona defeated Eilon Kedem in the fourth of a series of fights leading up to the much anticipated battle between Manny Pacquiao and Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto, dubbed “Firepower” at the MGM Grand.
Sonsona dropped Kedem in the first round from the former's left uppercut to the right jaw and then another to nasal bone, which obviously broke as blood escaped from the latter's nostrils, PhilBoxing.com said.
Sonsona pushed Kedem to retreat and engulfed the boxer in the corner with non-stop surgical shots to the body and upstairs. Kedem’s inability to respond to Sonsona’s assault prompted the referee to stop the match, it said.
Sonsona improves to 14 wins, 3 losses, 4 knockouts, it said.
