MANILA, Philippines ? International boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao said on Monday morning that he did not feel the need to fight unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather Jr. to cement his place in sports history.

?I?m not obliged to fight him. He?s the one who needs to fight me,? he said in Filipino after a courtesy call on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Malacañang Monday morning.

?If we compare our records, what he achieved compared to what I have achieved, modesty aside, you will see,? he added.

Pacquiao hinted at retirement to pursue a new career in politics.

Pacquiao said he would he would hold a family powwow to determine whether he would continue boxing, following his easy, 12-round victory over Ghanian Joshua Clottey last March 14.

?It?s okay for me to retire. No problem with me. But I can still fight. No problem as well. But of course, I?ve been in boxing for so long. Since I was 12 years old, I was already fighting in the ring, until now. I?m already 31 years old,? he said.
