NCAA: Blazer routs Generals, Knights upsets Chiefs

MANILA, Philippines ? (UPDATE) The College of St. Benilde (CSB) trounced Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), 83-64 while Letran shook off a lackadaisical start to turn back Arellano, 72-58 Monday in the 86th NCAA basketball tournament.

The Blazers drew big games from Luis Sinco and Carlo Lastimosa who had 21 and 19 points respectively.

Argel Mendoza topscored with 22 points for the Generals, who could not contain the offensive attack of the Blazers in the last quarter.

CSB improved to 3-8 while EAC dropped to 2-9.

The Knights trailed 0-6 in the opening minutes of the game and 10-17 at the end of the first before their offense picked up.

Jam Cortes exploited his size and strength on both ends of the floor as he unleashed a double-double performance of 19 points and 21 boards for the Knights, who outrebounded the Chiefs 53 to 27.

The Knights upped their record to 4-7.
