SEATTLE ? Searchers using dog teams and helicopters continued to look for John Arum, son of Hall of Fame boxing promoter Bob Arum, on Friday, almost a week after he went missing in North Cascades National Park.

The 49-year-old John Arum, an environmental lawyer and experienced climber, failed to return from a weekend trip to climb Storm King mountain northeast of Seattle.

Park spokeswoman Kerry Olson said that since searchers had found his backpack and smaller daypack on Wednesday and Thursday, no other sign of Arum had been discovered.

Olsen said some 20 people assisted by search dogs carried out the ground search on Friday.

Four helicopters, two of them with special heat-detection equipment, were also being used.

Olson said the search will continue until all possible areas are covered, but search leaders were concerned by the forecast for cloudy, cooler weather in the area this weekend.

Bob Arum was in Los Angeles Tuesday for the first of three stops on a tour to promote the November 13 Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito fight. He left that same day for Washington state after learning his son was missing.
