Talk ‘N Text clinches Philippine Cup crown

MANILA, Philippines?Guns ablaze, Talk ?N Text clinched the 2010-2011 PBA Philippine Cup championship after dumping San Miguel, 95-82, in Game 6 of the best-of-seven Finals Friday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Texters, playing with utmost collectiveness, made sure they were no comebacks, jumping to a whopping 18-point lead by the last five minutes of the contest also after opening the game with a double digit buffer.

The Chot Reyes-mentored squad did everything essential that San Miguel did not do -- passed the ball effectively with 25 assists compared to 11 of the Beermen, and turned trash to gold seven times more, 20-13.

Stocky forward Ryan Reyes and fiery guard Jimmy Alapag finished with 17 and 15 points for Talk ?N Text who notched their third championship in franchise history.

Jason Castro added seven points and six assists, and was adjudged as the finals? most valuable player along with Alapag.

The Beermen, who absorbed their second straight loss in the Finals after a setback in the last season's Fiesta cup, led briefly in the third quarter but that was the last they saw of the lead.

Best Player of the Conference Jay Washington paced San Miguel on a losing cause with 29 points and 18 boards.
