Pool fanatic Sebastian Chua is planning to offer at least P50,000 in monthly salary with no commission to our country's top cue artists if this would mean saving the country?s billiard scene.
Chua was reacting to a report published recently in another tabloid newspaper and in the Matchroom Sports Forum website that the newly formed Billiard Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMAP) headed by Bugsy Promotion boss Perry Mariano and Cue maker Edwin Reyes were criticizing the leadership of the Billiard and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP), the sole governing billiard body in the country.
"Kung talagang pipilayan nila ang BSCP at ang kapakanan ng billiard sa Pilipinas ay handa akong mag offer ng P50,000 monthly salary sa ating mga top at junior player kung ito lamang ang magiging paraan para maisabla natin ang RP billiard," said Chua, also the treasurer of the BSCP.
"Pero I hope na sana maayos at mapag-uusapan naman yan," explained Chua, who met recently with Bugsy Promotion boss Perry Mariano and BSCP president Ernesto "Ernie" Fajardo to talk about the misunderstanding between the group of Mariano and the officials of the BSCP and Raya Sports.
Chua, a local distributor of Brunswick billiard tables, also praised the initiative of the newly formed Philippines Billiards Development Foundation (PBDF) headed by Jun Diokno and Willie "Hoops" Aldeguer.
Marlon "Marvelous" Manalo, Mario "Aklan" Tolentino and Ramon "Maestro Monching" Mistica have already signified their intention to support the PBDF. /Correspondent Marlon Bernardino
