TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL -- Current WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight champion Along Denoy was declared the winner by technical decision over Michael Rodriguez after two cuts caused by accidental head clashes prompted the referee to stop the fight in the sixth-round of their 10-round bout Monday night at the Island City Mall carpark here.
Though bloodied, Denoy was way ahead on the scorecards of the three judges when the fight was halted.
In the chief supporting bout, Ricky Sismundo won by unanimous decision over Reman Salim. The judges scored it 96-94, 96-94 and 99-91, all for Sismundo, who also beat Salim the first time they met by majority decision.
Glenn Masicampo upset ex-RP lightweight king Arnel Porras via a technical decision win.
The event was held as part of the birthday celebration for Mayor Dan Neri Lim, who is hugely credited for boxing?s resurgence in this province. Salven Lagumbay, contributor
