Do-or-die game for SWU team B

Cebu Daily News

THE BELLES from Team B of Southwestern University (SWU) gun for a seat in the semifinals when they battle the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF)-A in a do-or-die match in the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala All-Ladies Beach Volley Open today at the Wiggy’s Beach Resort in Liloan.

There will be no tomorrow for Jessa Satina and Lorie Mae Layno of SWU-B should they lose, but a win would muddle things up in bracket A as it would forge a three-way tie at the top of the standings.

The defending champions, Jusabelle Brillo and Janez Igot of the University of the Visayas (UV), and Michelle Simbajon and Genie Sabas of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) are currently sitting at the top of the standings after finishing the eliminations with a 5-1 (win-loss) slate.

On the other hand, SWU-B is not far behind with a 4-1 card. Should SWU-B win, they would force organizers to go to the Olympic quotient system to determine who would advance to the next round where they will meet the undefeated SWU-A featuring Janelle Tabio and three-time Nestea national champion Florian Gutierrez, and Christine Bohol and Maritess Natad of Arthro Kontra Arthritis.
